SSWG

Southend & Shoeburyness Wargames Group

st1.JPG
Seige towers for Ragnit.23 viewsMade a box shape using thin plywood, glued the interior floors inside also in plywood, then covered the floors in thin strips of veneer.
Seige 1 and 2
st10.jpg
Finished tower 2.26 viewsThe animal hides can be seen here in great detail.
st2.JPG
Seige 1 tower for Ragnit.21 viewsThe flap was made using plywood again covered in veneer, with the posts to hold the drawbridge out of wood, released by rope from the model shop.
st3.JPG
Tower 1 in moving mode.23 viewsHere with the drawbridge up, tied off with the rope.
The wheel was made of ply then covered in miliput, adding the detail, we then cast these in a mould, and created enough for the job.
st4.JPG
Counter weight Tower 2.24 viewsWe had to give the towers stability, due to the weight of the Gripping Beast figures.
So we added a sheet of lead under the lower floor.
st5.JPG
Adding the metal.20 viewsUsing miliput to make the metal parts here shown on tower 2.
st6.JPG
Tower 2 draw bridge detail.26 viewsHere you can see the detail gien to the draw bridge.
st7.JPG
Front view of the towers in tandem.27 viewsDecoraters filler in a mastic gun is delivered to the towers in blobs which are then pummelled using a wet paintbrush to mimic the detail of animal skins.
st8.JPG
Rear view.26 viewsJust waiting to be painted, start with a grey primer, add wood colour dark brown and dry brush slowly to detail and shade.
Then paint the animal hides and wash using mixture of darker shades, finally a light dry brush to complete.
st9.jpg
